| Vietnam is a nation in change. Since the late 1990’s numeruous reformations and liberalisations of the Vietnamese governement are observable in the fundamental economic data. The GDP has nearly doubled between 1999 ($30 tsd.) and 2004 ($60 tsd.). Vietnam is growing on average 8% p.a., which is almost as fast as China. Beneficial to the economic conditions are also the membership in AFTA (since 2006) and WTO (since 2007). There are manifold reasons for the prospering economy. Against the background of the current commodity boom Vietnam benefits from its large amounts of natural resources – especially Oil and Gas –which the US-Vietnam bilateral trade agreement from 2001 has an additional positiv impact. Furthermore the increasing industrialisation of Vietnam attracts foreign investors and results in increasing foreign direct investments. DAXglobal Vietnam Index gives Investors an efficient access to the largest and most liquid 20 Vietnamese companies, oriented about trading volume. All eligble Companies need to be listed at Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange. Due to its construction the index gives an investable access to this relatively new market.
