Five questions for Sascha Beisheim

What kind of image did you have of Deutsche Börse Group beforehand and how do you see the company now?

Deutsche Börse Group plays an essential role in the world of finance in Germany. Due to this reputation, I was a bit apprehensive when I applied. This worry was unfounded. You quickly notice that in this dynamic and innovative company all employees are very content and correspondingly friendly and open to new employees, interns or students. You’re never left alone with difficult tasks. There is a real sense of team spirit.

In your opinion, what makes Deutsche Börse Group attractive for students?

For me as a student, Deutsche Börse Group is an ideal stepping stone for my career when I graduate. At a time when stock exchanges are being consolidated, Deutsche Börse Group is not just known within Germany, but has developed a reputation throughout the world. Future employers look very closely at the internships you did during your studies. From my own experience I know that Deutsche Börse Group looks good on any CV.

What is the main focus of your work at Deutsche Börse Group?

Within the compliance section, I mainly work on topics regarding the prevention of insider trading, money laundering and terrorism financing. Furthermore, I assist the team with general administrative and organizational tasks as well as with daily compliance activities.

What advice would you give students interested in working as a student assistant at Deutsche Börse Group?

Prepare the application documents carefully and above all be yourself in the interview. In my opinion, personality, openness and independence are important factors for picking up points. Remember that the people doing the interviewing are not trying to intimidate applicants, but are really interested in the person and their interests and why they have applied to join Deutsche Börse Group.

What other things do you think it might interest us to know?

At Deutsche Börse Group there is a distinct cooperative and friendly atmosphere among students and interns, which really helps in day-to-day business life. Deutsche Börse Group also supports this cooperation by organizing a variety of events throughout the year, where interns and students can meet, get to know each other and discuss the work experience they have made at the Group – very interesting and motivating.
