Six questions for David Eiteljörge

Please give a short overall statement on working at Deutsche Börse Group.

The work atmosphere at Deutsche Börse Group is dynamic, cooperative and international. Introducing your own ideas is as highly valued and encouraged as taking on responsibility at an early stage. Despite a high degree of professionalism and productivity, there is plenty of fun in the team and with colleagues.

Please give a brief outline of your education and career to date.

After my high school diploma in 2002 in Herdecke an der Ruhr, I enrolled in the European Business Programme at Münster University and at the University of Portsmouth between 2003 and 2007, graduating in Business Management and with a BA in European Business.
During my degree course, I did an internship in International Sales at Porsche AG in 2005, followed by an internship in strategic planning at Clearstream, a Deutsche Börse Group company, in Luxembourg in 2006. I have been working in the field of strategic planning at Deutsche Börse Group in Frankfurt since July 2007.

How did you become aware of Deutsche Börse Group as an employer?

When I started looking for an internship in the financial services sector in 2006, I saw a job advert on the Internet with Deutsche Börse Group. Until then I had not specifically planned to work at a stock exchange, but it soon became clear to me that, due to the area of work and the professional environment, this internship was exactly what I was looking for – and I then went on to join the team for strategic planning a year later as a graduate.

How would you describe the working atmosphere at Deutsche Börse Group?

I find the working atmosphere, which is strongly characterised by teamwork and a high degree of motivation and productivity, to be extremely helpful, considerate and professional. Regardless of whom you work with and at which level in the organisation, the open exchange of ideas between line manager and employee is encouraged and questions always answered openly.

What was the biggest challenge you had to deal with so far at Deutsche Börse Group? What has been your personal highlight?

My personal highlight so far has been finalising the strategic planning for the next three years. My role in it was consolidating, agreeing and extrapolating the plans of individual business areas. For me as a new employee in the team, this role had the positive side effect of getting to know the various market areas and a large number of employees in a very short time. Of course, the job was not always easy, and occasionally not something that could be done in a normal eight hour day, but it is a very satisfying feeling when you see the end product and can then turn to new, interesting projects and tasks.

What are your career plans for the future?

In the next few years my priority is to learn as much as possible and experience as wide a range of tasks as I can. Thanks to the size of Deutsche Börse Group and its integrated business model, it covers a wide range of activities, so I see my future as having outstanding opportunities for learning and development in the future.
