Four questions for Patrick Woltersdorf

Please give a brief outline of your education and career to date.

I finished my Business degree at Bielefeld University, specialising in international finance, production and logistics. I wrote my final thesis on risk management at Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg. After graduating, I joined a management consultancy as a consultant in banking and stock exchanges. I have been working for Eurex Frankfurt AG since April 2007.

What kind of image did you have of Deutsche Börse Group beforehand and how do you see the company now?

From the outside it is very hard to imagine everything described by the term “stock exchange”. You step into quite a different world after you join. There are a great many interrelations that you have to understand before you can make a judgement. In any case, it was definitely not a bad move to opt for Deutsche Börse Group.

What were your first few days in our company like?

As I was already an external consultant at Deutsche Börse AG and knew my current colleagues, the change wasn’t hard for me to make. But it was also made easy by the support I received from the various administrative departments. Their employees did their best to make the move to Deutsche Börse Group as smooth as possible.

What was the biggest challenge you had to deal with so far at Deutsche Börse Group? What was your personal highlight?

At the moment I can’t quite say. I find every new project a great challenge because you always have to be willing to go the extra mile. The biggest highlight is, of course, when you see things that you have worked on yourself go “live” in the real world, such as the upcoming trading system release from Eurex 9.0 to Eurex 10.0, or changes to the contract specifications of individual products.
