Group company: Deutsche Börse Systems AG Department: IT-Consulting Function: Head of Department Main responsibility: Internal resourcing of IT experts Working for the Group since April 2000 Four questions for Manuela Bieß Please give a brief outline of your education and career to date. I did my high school diploma in 1988, in 1997 I took my final university exams in English and Romance Language and Literature at the Georg August University in Göttingen, my studies included a year in England. From1997-2000 I was project manager at Deutsche Post AG. In April 2000 I moved to Deutsche Börse Systems AG where I was Account Manager until the end of 2002. From the end of 2002 until May 2006 I was Senior Project Manager, working on several large projects such as integrating Entory AG (a former Deutsche Börse group subsidiary) and Clearstream, process optimizations in IT and an assignment of almost two years at Eurex US. Since May 2006 I have been Head of Department. When did you first become interested in Deutsche Börse Group as an employer, and why? A former colleague who had moved to the stock exchange brought Deutsche Börse to my attention as an employer. The job I was offered excited me because of the prospect of having the unique opportunity to further promote the development and design of new applications. How would you describe the working atmosphere at Deutsche Börse Group? Despite us all having a heavy workload, what stands out in the company is the friendly collaboration and the fact that we achieve objectives together. On top of this is the fact that lots of employees are from a wide variety of countries and disciplines that enriches everyday life in the office. What was the biggest challenge you had to deal with so far at Deutsche Börse Group? What has been your personal highlight? So far, each project has been a real challenge. And when you finally bring something to a successful conclusion, that’s a highlight. But probably my biggest challenge and highlight are one and the same thing: in May 2006 I went from being Senior Project Manager to being Head of Department, and so for many team members, I went from being their colleague to being their boss. |
