Deutsche Börse and Schweizer Börse jointly operate the Eurex derivatives exchange – the marketplace for futures trading and clearing.

Eurex offers a broad range of international benchmark products and operates the most liquid fixed income market in the world, featuring open, democratic, and low-cost electronic access. With market participants connected from 700 locations worldwide, trading volume at Eurex exceeds 1.9 billion contracts a year, making Eurex the market place of choice for the derivatives community worldwide.

Broad range of global benchmark products

The exchange’s electronic trading platform provides access to a broad range of global benchmark products such as interest rate, equity index, and equity products: The Futures and Options of the Euro-Bund, Euro-Bobl and Euro-Schatz comprise the world’s leading interest rate derivatives and have developed into the benchmark for European fixed income trading. Eurex’s equity index product portfolio includes futures and options on the most liquid global, European and national indices such as the Dow Jones Global Titans 50(SM) Index, Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50® Index, DAX® or SMI®, but also sector index derivatives on 18 different sectors. Eurex is also one of the world's leading equity-based derivatives market with an ever-increasing range of underlying products and turnover.

Eurex aims to be the partner of choice for the global derivatives community and will continue to provide the best possible products, services and solutions to investors and intermediaries in the derivatives business worldwide.

Eurex Clearing AG acts as the central counterparty

Aside from operating a fully electronic trading platform, Eurex provides an automated and integrated joint clearing house. Eurex Clearing AG offers central counterparty services for instruments traded on the Eurex exchanges, Eurex Bonds® and Eurex Repo® as well as the FWB® Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse (the Frankfurt Stock Exchange) (Xetra® and floor), eliminating individual counterparty risk. With this structure, Eurex participants benefit from a high-quality, cost-efficient and comprehensive value chain of trading and clearing services via a single electronic system.

International Securities Exchange Holdings (ISE)

In December 2007 Eurex completed the acquisition of the International Securities Exchange Holdings, Inc. (ISE). With the addition of ISE, the world’s largest equity options exchange, Eurex strengthens its presence in North America and offers a wide range of U.S. Dollar products. On a combined basis, Eurex and ISE are the market leader in individual equity and equity index derivatives worldwide. Eurex and ISE members will benefit from access to highly liquid products that span multiple asset classes and currencies. The combination provides growth opportunities through the cross-selling of existing products and through the future development of new joint products.

Eurex Bonds and Eurex Repo

Together with leading international financial institutions, Eurex operates the electronic trading platform Eurex Bonds , an ECN (electronic communication network) for off-exchange, wholesale trading in fixed income securities and treasury discount papers. Through basis trading Eurex Bonds offers a direct link between the cash market and the futures market, enabling electronic basis trading via a central order book.

Eurex Repo, which is a separate segment, is the electronic trading solution for repos (sale and repurchase agreements). This Eurex segment is one of the leading electronic repo market providers, and operates Swiss Franc and Euro Repo Markets. Eurex Repo offers the entire value chain from trading through clearing and settlement.
