Xetra Release 9.0 has started

The new release allows the bundling of liquidity for securities of all asset classes on an highly efficient trading platform and thus offers investors in Europe the fastest execution at best prices for about 300,000 products. The new Xetra version introduces two new market models, which continue to optimize liquidity in securities trading.

About 300,000 products on one platform

With the roll out of XR 9.0 Deutsche Börse offers connectivity to about 300,000 securities and one-stop shopping in Europe’s biggest liquidity pool. Xetra participants can continue to rely on the familiar infrastructure, speed and security. They also benefit from some important innovations.

With the new Xetra release, Scoach, Europe's leading exchange for structured products, transfers trading of about 280,000 certificates and warrants on Xetra. Thus, all banks and securities trading houses, which participate in Xetra trading in 19 countries, have direct access to about 300,000 instruments. The number of tradable securities on Xetra thereby increases tenfold and exceeds by far any comparable product range at other trading places.

Two new market models optimize the liquidity in trading

The new Xetra version introduces two new market models, which continue to optimize the liquidity in securities trading: one model is based on issuers of certificates and warrants, who regularly quote bid and ask prices for their products. The other model is related to liquidity providers, so called Specialists, who ensure the execution of orders at the issuer's quoted price. With regard to both models, market participants benefit European-wide from the fastest order execution as well as from lowest explicit and implicit transaction costs in fully electronic trading.

An important step into the electronic future of stock exchanges

In addition, Xetra uses the newest generation of high speed processors in order to enhance the system’s speed, security and attractiveness for all market participants and special trading models such as algorithmic trading. At the same time, the increased capacity provides for trading of up to 500,000 different securities on the new trading platform. Regarding its functional and technical characteristics, the new Xetra Release is an important step into the electronic future of stock exchanges.

Private investors in Germany can order structured products as usual at the Frankfurt stock exchange. The orders will be transferred automatically to Scoach (Xetra) and benefit from fastest execution speed and lowest costs.

By the migration on XETRA, issuers at the Scoach marketplace benefit from wider distribution channels for structured products. EU passporting allows the admission of products at one market place, while offering them to customers in different European Union countries at the same time. Moreover, investors gain access to the largest European product range of securitised derivatives.

About Xetra

More than 260 European banks in 19 countries are connected to Xetra, the fully electronic trading system, to trade the full range of equities (equities, certificates, warrants, Exchange Traded Funds) listed on the Frankfurt stock exchange. Buy and sell orders placed by licensed brokers throughout the world are countered in a central computer. Xetra was introduced in 1997 and is considered to be one of the fastest and safest fully electronic trading systems world-wide. On the platform are over 300,000 securities tradable - as many as on no other system.
