16 Jun 2017

Exhibition: Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2017Opens on 28 June at MMK 3

From 28 June 2017, the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main is, for the second time, showing the works by four of the artists nominated for the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2017 at MMK 3 (one of its locations in Domstrasse). The finalists include artists Sophie Calle, Dana Lixenberg, Awoiska van der Molen, as well as artist duo Taiyo Onorato and Nico Krebs.

All those interested are warmly invited to attend the opening of the exhibition on 28 June from 7.30 p.m. onwards. Attending the opening is free of charge and there is no need to register. After the opening, the exhibition will run at MMK 3 until 17 September.

The Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize is bestowed annually on a contemporary photo artist of any nationality, who made an important contribution to photography in Europe during the previous year, either in the form of an exhibition or a publication. On 18 May, Dana Lixenberg was awarded the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2017 in London for her publication “Imperial Courts” (Rome, 2015). Dana Lixenberg’s work is a complex and comprehensive portrait of the largely Afro-American occupants of Imperial Courts, a state housing project in Watts, Los Angeles. Over a period of 22 years, Lixenberg documented the changing face of the community in her images.

The opening will be attended by Susanne Gaensheimer, Director of MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main, Andreas Preuss, Deputy CEO, Deutsche Börse AG, and Brett Rogers, Director, The Photographers’ Gallery, London.

You will find further information on the exhibition on the website of the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation and on the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main’s website.
