Strengthening research and training at our locations

Participants in the 64th International Session of the European Youth Parliament, Frankfurt 2011

The cornerstone for a successful and fulfilling professional life is laid in early years. Therefore it is important for Deutsche Börse Group to assume responsibility for training young persons at an early stage and to make targeted investments in school and academic research and teaching. For this reason we support innovative education and research concepts from primary school via scholarship programmes for students through to research projects at universities based on the assumption of life-long learning. The central component in this respect is that our employees allow others to profit from their wealth of knowledge and experience. Thus our efforts in this area are based equally on personal involvement and financial contributions.

Education projects

Frankfurter Börsenspiel (since 2007)
To potential private investors, the exchange game “Börsenspiel” provides an excellent introduction to the exchange. Participants can trade all securities listed at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange continuously and, to make trading appear genuine, it makes real-time prices available as well as limit orders, validity limitations and choice between floor trading and Xetra®. The order mask is similar to that of online brokers, transaction fees are retained and dividends are paid out, giving the game an authentic look and feel.

Business Mastergames (since 2009)
Business Master is an international school project to develop entrepreneurial thinking and economic understanding among pupils. An innovative, playful approach to economic topics intends to awaken curiosity among pupils for economical topics.
Know, invest, make a profit: Business Master is an image of corporate reality. With the required entrepreneurial skills, players can establish, acquire, sell and invest in companies, transform them into stock corporations, arrange for an IPO and issue shares. Special question cards ensure that not only luck and a clever strategy, but also business knowledge determine a player’s success. The companies and organisations mentioned in the game are all market leaders of their sectors and thus make the game even more attractive.
Participation for the schools and pupils is free of charge and all children from 7th grade are eligible to take part in the programme. As a Business Schoolgames partner, Deutsche Börse AG supported the creation of the “Business Mastergames” both financially and professionally.

We have been supporting the HoF financially as well as professionally since its establishment in the following institutions: E-Finance Lab, Goethe Business School, Center for Financial Studies (CEF). A particularly intensive exchange of ideas between the academic and business world is maintained with the E-Finance Lab (EFL) research institute. Some of our employees also lecture at other universities, offering students valuable insights into financial industry practice.

Cooperation with foreign universities
As an active capital market participant in various global financial centres, we highly depend upon the quality and academic training of our future employees. Only if the highest quality standards are met can we uphold our Company’s success in the long run and access a pool of talented graduates. It is therefore of utmost concern to us to invest into academic research and training and to intensify cooperation with our partner universities. Our support in the areas education and science comprises the personal commitment of our employees as well as the financial support of our cooperation partners.
