Changes to the DAX methodology

Deutsche Börse will apply new index rules to be effective as of 25 February 2021. Further information can be found here:

Indices group various securities according to defined criteria, such as the market capitalisation of the respective company and exchange turnover in the security, membership of a market or sector – and track how these groups then perform in the capital markets. The indices thus enable comparison between the trend for a particular security and the performance of the relevant reference group. As such, companies are charted within their peer group, enabling investors to make more targeted investment decisions.

Deusche Börse offers an innovative selection of indices and index solutions. Deutsche Börse AG makes the decisions regarding the calculation and compilation of equity indices together with the Working Committee for Equity Indices.


Equity indices rankings

Companies included in the Prime Standard can subscribe to the stock indices ranking lists for the DAX®, MDAX®, SDAX® and TecDAX® indices n a monthly basis and use the lists in their investor relations work. Issuers included in the Prime Standard segment can make use of this service free of charge by concluding a contract for the provision of Deutsche Börse ranking lists.

Overview of content

All Share indices

In addition to selection and sector indices, Deutsche Börse offers benchmark indices, which encompass all securities from companies in a defined sub-sector and covering different segments. These benchmark indices have a wider reach and as such are particularly tailored to the needs of investment firms which measure the performance of their portfolios against the performance of these indices. They include, e.g., the Prime All Share, General All Share, Scale All Share and CDAX®, which encompasses all German stocks in Prime Standard and General Standard.
