Did you watch our virtual Annual General Meeting this year? If so, you’ll remember the introductory film to our CEO Theodor Weimer’s speech. By presenting a fresh look at our company, sprinkled with a little humour, we wanted to show that we are so much more than what may come to mind. Our diversity is not limited to the products and services along the value chain of the financial sector. As an important cornerstone of our success, more than 9,000 colleagues from over 100 nations work at around 60 locations. Every day, they all contribute to our purpose of creating trust in the markets of today and tomorrow.
Age, experience, (dis-)abilities, gender, sexual identity, ethnicity and beliefs should only play a role insofar as they enhance our jointly developed ideas and the success of our company. We believe in creating a workplace where everyone feels comfortable and happy to contribute their ideas. With our diversity and inclusion initiatives and, not least, our Code of business conduct, we have created the formal framework. In our daily interactions at our office locations or from our home offices, we at Deutsche Börse actually live by these principles.
We take great pride in another important part of our corporate culture: the collection of contemporary photography managed by the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation. Two new exhibitions at our Group headquarters, The Cube, are now on display until 19 September. “Us and Them” takes up the theme “Ideologies” and features four photographic positions that explore identity formation through demarcation. Works by the four finalists of the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2021 are also on display. We are very happy about the reopening of our exhibition space to visitors. If you can’t make it to our headquarters, you might enjoy a new feature of our newsletter: each future edition will include a comment by Anne-Marie Beckmann, the Photography Foundation’s Managing Director, on one specially selected piece of the collection. Because there’s so much more to discover!
I hope you enjoy reading this new edition of our Business Newsletter.
Kind regards, Oliver Frischemeier Head of Corporate Communications & Engagement

Its obligation therefore goes beyond simply achieving targets for revenues and costs. But what exactly does “going beyond” mean in this context?
