September 2021

Dear reader,

Dynamically kicking off the last months of the year, we just completed the largest index reform in the history of the German benchmark index DAX by adding ten constituents – 40 is the new 30. We celebrated this historic moment with a short film.

These days, our offices are also finally settling into a more dynamic routine. The progress in global vaccination efforts and continuing high hygiene and safety standards allow us to come together for in-person meetings and work after months-long working from home. For all the benefits remote work has to offer, nothing beats a chance encounter at the coffee machine or a chat in the hallway. The office as a central place for collaboration and innovation will continue to play a vital role for us in the future, and I am curious to see how working in the hybrid working world will shape up!

For us, September has been all about new beginnings and reshaping the familiar, and the momentum has rubbed off on our Newsletter: from now on, Anne-Marie Beckmann, Director of the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation, will present a work from our collection of contemporary photography in each issue. The bustle captured in Vivian Maier’s 1959 photograph Santa Fe Railroad is a perfect start.

On that note, we hope you’ll be inspired by our drive and enjoy reading this newest edition of our Business Newsletter.

Kind regards,
Oliver Frischemeier
Head of Corporate Communications & Engagement
