Stephan Leithner commented on this as follows:

“„How can Germany get back to the top?” was the question of a lively discussion at Table.Briefings.

Beyond the short term volatile global context, from my perspective the answer is clear: building on the recently announced CDU/CSU/SPD coalition program, the designated German government as well as the industry need to adopt a “get-it-done-mindset”. We have a great opportunity to use our strengths and virtues to increase our competitiveness and strive for excellence. To make Germany competitive and attractive!

All the ingredients are on the table – capital is moving back to Europe and especially to Germany because we offer attractive innovation capabilities, reliability, and stability. We now need a political framework to unleash our full potential. The proposed coalition agreement contains a broad spectrum of good solutions: to mobilize private capital, to foster innovation in critical industries, to allow innovative companies to grow and German citizens to participate in the value creation.

DeepTech, CleanTech, defense and NewSpace are industries which combine our engineering DNA with an entrepreneurial spirit to get back to the top. The mobilization of capital in Germany and the implementation of the European Saving- and Investment Union are key to boost this. We as Deutsche Börse Group stand ready to support and take the lead with globally competitive capital markets infrastructure elements.

Let’s get it done!“
