Certificates on cryptocurrencies were once again the most popular products in 2021 with a trading volume of more than €1 billion on the Frankfurt Certificate Exchange, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Overall, the trading volume last year was €18.4 billion.

The gold holdings of the exchange-traded bearer bond increased by 20.7 tonnes over the course of the year 2021. Xetra-Gold is thus the leading physically backed gold security in Europe.

As the first live component of its digital D7 platform, Deutsche Börse launched the new central register for electronic securities.

The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse AG made an extension to the Executive Board mandate of Gregor Pottmeyer, for three years until the end of September 2025. In his function as Chief Financial Officer, Gregor Pottmeyer heads Deutsche Börse Group's CFO division.
