Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse AG appoints Heike Eckert as member of the Executive Board

As already announced, Hauke Stars will not be available for a third term as a member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse AG. The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse AG therefore made the following personnel decision in its meeting today:

As of 1 July 2020, Heike Eckert (51) will be appointed as full member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse AG and will be responsible for the newly formed Executive Board division Human Resources and Compliance. In this context, she will also succeed Hauke Stars (52) as Director of Labour Relations. Heike Eckert is currently a member of the Executive Board and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Eurex Clearing AG. Heike Eckert has previously held different management positions at Deutsche Börse Group, where she has been working in Germany and abroad since 1995.

The Cash Market, for which Hauke Stars was previously responsible, will be integrated into the Trading & Clearing division that is headed by Thomas Book (48), as of 1 July 2020.

Hauke Stars will leave Deutsche Börse AG at her own request by the end of June 2020 before her current contract expires.

Joachim Faber, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse AG: "With today's decision to appoint Heike Eckert as member of the Executive Board, we have been able to entrust the new Executive Board division Human Resources and Compliance to a highly respected leader from our own ranks. In this important function, she will make a decisive contribution to the success of the company.

Faber continues: "My sincere thanks go to Hauke Stars for the many years of trustful and very successful cooperation. In her various functions within the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse AG since 2012, she has achieved a great deal for our company with her high level of commitment."

Theodor Weimer, Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Börse AG: "Heike Eckert brings with her many years of experience and expertise in the core business of Deutsche Börse. She is therefore excellently positioned to continue shaping the important central functions Human Resources and Compliance in such a way that they provide the best possible support for our business units with their services. I am very much looking forward to working with her and the entire Executive Board team in the years to come.”

Weimer further added: "I would like to cordially thank Hauke Stars for the very good and constructive cooperation and her contributions to Deutsche Börse in recent years. As Director of Labour Relations, she has set the course for the long-term success of our entire company. She hands over the Cash Market, Pre-IPO & Growth Financing division as an operationally successful business unit. By integrating this business into the Trading & Clearing division, we expect new growth impulses for the Cash Market.”
